Key visual Theaterfestival auawirleben Bern

aua closing: performance & club night

Naya de Souza & 36birds (Basel/Zurich)

Place Festivalzentrum Lehrer*zimmer PROGR

Saturday 16.5. 23:00 - 03:30

Auawirleben, we end with a bang! The evening begins with a performance that reaches beneath the thin skin, fragile from twelve days of festival, permeable to the joy of letting go. Activist stand-up with Naya de Souza, words that linger. In the bass night, we let ourselves drift on vibrating waves, rising feverishly only to dissolve into the morning. Performance and club, seamlessly entwined.

Naya de Souza was born in 1991 in the Caatinga region of Brazil and grew up between the borders of Bahia and Pernambuco. She is a Berlin & Basel-based stand-up comedian, performer, and political activist. In her multimedia cabaret and stand-up shows she combines humor, performance, and sharp political critique. Naya has a background in gastronomy as a trained chef and occasionally incorporates food into her practice, viewing it as a catalyst for social connection. Through alter egos such as «Lux Venérea» and «Bundaskanzlerin», she uses comedy, memes, video collage, and social media to address censorship, migration, racism, and exclusion within Germany’s cultural and political landscape. Her work has been presented internationally on stages and in cultural institutions. Alongside her artistic practice, she is active in political education and HIV advocacy, collaborating with organizations including Aidshilfe, Checkpoint, TriQ, Migrationsrat, and LesMigraS.

36birds is a Singer/Songwriter and DJ hailing from Zurich with congolese heritage. His music transports listeners to the pulsating energy of the club, fusing electronic rhythms with deep cultural influences. With a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, 36brids crafts immersive sets that pay homage to the past while shaping the future of club culture.
